Serving the Evening Meal in January:
This coming Distribution Evening (February 28th) we will be serving soup and sandwiches for the main entrée. We are asking volunteers to bring – soup, stew, or chili and salads and/or desserts. The sandwiches will be provided by the Food Pantry this month. We always want to make this a special meal for our clients. Please contact Kathleen Weaver if you can bring any of the items to share. Thank You.
Volunteer Opportunities for February:
Please reply if you can participate in any of the following opportunities – thank you.
February 22nd, Wednesday – 7:15 pm at Conestoga - opportunity for high school students and others to stock the pantry for our delivery of food earlier in the day. A very exciting and fulfilling evening for our youth. All help is appreciated – it is a fast moving evening. Usually lasts about 2 hours. Thanks.
February 28th, Tuesday – 4:00 pm at Conestoga – Monthly Distribution Day – need approximately 35 - 40+ volunteers for the evening – setup, distribution, and tear down. We are usually completed around 8:15 p.m.
January Report
Thank you for all the support in January. The Twin Valley Food Pantry served 119 families - (accounting for 445 people). We had 28 new families visit the pantry this month. We also had approximately 50+ volunteers from across our community supporting the evening. Thank you. We distributed approximately 10,300 pounds of food, cleaning supplies, personal health and hygiene items. Thanks to all the donors across the community for their financial contributions or for coordinating a food drive. Your generosity is what keeps this mission going. We would also like to give a special thanks to the Elverson-Morgantown Lions Club for providing the entrée and dessert and to those volunteers bringing dishes to complement the dinner we served. Thank you all for the hundreds of volunteer hours each month that make this important community mission possible.
This coming distribution night (February 28th) – we want to update our Volunteer Listings – so each volunteer will be asked to sign in upon their arrival. A signup sheet will be made available on the counter. This information will be important to keep updated as we are planning a TVFP Volunteer Banquet in March. Thank You.
Other Activities
• We are planning on holding the first TVFP Volunteer Banquet in March to share with the volunteers a profile of growth and support over the last two years. We will also be sharing plans to re-arrange the distribution process to accommodate this growth for 2012. The Banquet will be a pot luck with the main entrée provided. Keep watching your email for more information on the date for this function.
All food and financial donations are welcome. Items can be dropped off at the Conestoga Church Office Tuesday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. every week or any other time by dropping me an email for coordination.
